Full text of Ahmadinejad's speech to the UN General Assembly

I don't know. He sounds pretty sane for a guy our government and media has made out to be an insane crackpot enemy of the US. Peaceful coexistence? Radical, man, radical.

Dennis Kucinich on the Bailout

The word stench and other bad smell words come up a lot in this interview. Kucinich speaks on DM about the bailout. Excellent, thorough analyis. Check it out if you have a strong heart.

Excerpt: "When all is said and done and the jeweler’s eye is applied to this bill, this bill is about Wall Street. And unfortunately, you know, Goldman Sachs, with their man now as the Secretary of the Treasury, is going to be able to have some of its policies escape scrutiny. And this is probably a way to keep them afloat, I’m sure. Well, you know, I don’t want anybody to go down or out of business, but it seems to me that when the Secretary of the Treasury has massive holdings in Goldman Sachs and he’s going to be in a position of being able to direct investments and buy out bad investments, I think that we could easily conclude what that would do for his former firm."

And in this corner, from Goldman Sachs, we have "The Architect," Mr. MoneyBags Freakshow with his heartfelt woe about the "excesses" that helped cause the problem, excesses the bill does nothing to correct. All I can say is that the knots in his stomach, they're just not tight enough.

McLovin

Oh, I just love this photo.

McCotton Hill looks so miserably uncomfortable. And wee. A wee old man doll. Floppy. I guess you can't be an unbending maverick and still take a hug without looking brittle and near death.

Palin Claims US “Victory” in Iraq

Here is a grab from Democracy Now exposing more of Palin's stellar word with ways:

"In other campaign news, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been caught in an apparent gaffe after claiming the US has achieved “victory” in Iraq. Speaking to CBS News anchor Katie Couric, Palin said, “a surge in Afghanistan also will lead us to victory there, as it has proven to have done in Iraq.” Palin was also asked about her comments that an Israeli attack on Iran shouldn’t ever be “second guessed.”

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: “We don’t have to second-guess what their efforts would be if they believe that it is in their country and their allies, including us, all of our best interests to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to wipe them off the face of the earth. It is obvious to me who the good guys are in this one and who the bad guys are. The bad guys are the ones who say Israel is a stinking corpse and should be wiped off the face of the earth. That’s not a good guy who is saying that. Now, one who would seek to protect the good guys in this, the leaders of Israel and her friends, her allies, including the United States, in my world, those are the good guys.”

Did you get all that? Clearly she has taken a page from Rumsfeld's known unkowns book of communications.

Nader on Bailout

Here's Ralph Nader, on Democracy Now, talking about the Bailout and showboats among other things. Fear, fear fear rush to war. Rush to bailout crooks. Rush. Rush. Rush. "But the first step is to slow down Congress. Once this bill is passed—and it’s a blanket bill. It’s only four pages, Amy, four pages of a $700 billion blank check, transferring congressional authority wholesale, and I think unconstitutionally, to the White House, King George IV at work again. Once it passes, then the chance for comprehensive regulation and all the other changes to make Wall Street accountable, instead of allow Wall Street to create a corporate state or what Franklin Delano Roosevelt called fascism, which is government controlled by private economic power, represented by people like Henry Paulson—once this happens, it’s not going to be reversible." An excerpt.

Satan is Not Happy

Mr. Grumpy Inferno Pants is NOT happy. Heard it through the scorched grapevine that he was close with Palin, had her wrapped aroaund this "nowhere bridge", got them books-o-learning almost banned, but then all this blessing to save her from all forms of witchcrafery business pulled the musty rug out from underneath him.

Shhh. Someone Thinks He's a Cat.

Nothing like working at home on a sunny almost Fall day. Hey, check out my exciting new paper weight. Shaped a bit like a Border Terrier. Hard to say at this point if this kind of intrusion is a perk or not of working from home. But with those little hands on my leg, and the love crumb eyes looking up at me ... ugh, hard to resist. Then he just jumps up and helps himself to the center of attention.

Greg Palast

If you don't know Greg Palast you should. His last book, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, will age you. His latest book has a lengthy section in it on how the GOP (Rove) has already stolen the 2008 election. Incredible reporting. Jump in here at truthout.org. And click the banner above. He looks like the Indiana Jones of reporting, a little.

Photo Ops = Experience

The misery of it all. How shallow and insulting the charade.

Palin has no foreign policy experience to speak of, so now we cram in a few quick meetings and photo ops to show how connected she is. Press is locked out. Her and McCain seem (her more) to have gone underground except for the most controlled and shielded of appearances. (Especially after The View). Doesn't Bush hold the record for the fewest press briefings of any president in history?

Smells the same to me with Palin. Especially with the campaign trying so militantly to keep her from speaking in public. It's almost like their afraid of what will come out of her mouth. Again.

Brzezinski

A little light on the subject. Get to know this man, if you don't already. An avowed Globalist. By some accounts he's "the man". By other accounts, maybe not so much. Lastly, here are pieces from The Progressive and a transcript from Democracy Now with more on Mr. B.

Palin Almost Spells Pain

My wife Sonja says I am giving too much ink to Palin. Maybe so. Here is my last (for a while) Palin post. Link to a transcript from Democracy Now on Palin, polar bears and oil and gas. The warm up to Amy's interview with the scientist includes a transcript from the Gibson interview and Palin's painfully garbled attempt to answer.

Mangle Blue Palin

If I had been born to Sarah Palin, my name would be Mangle Blue. Sweet. Use the Palin name generator to see what your name would be. Flash, Stick. Bark. Granite. By the way, I did Otty's and he was Bush Gator Palin. He is not down with that.

Smoke Up Ass

... Sick to my stomach today, big time ... oh wait, must be all the cheap cheap smoke someone blew up my ass in her debut last night ... the boss is happy though. I am not quite sure why she reminds me of Bush. Oh, she sounds like him a lot when she talks.

The more I read and process about last night's interview the more ill I become. Extremists are hell-bent on things. We won't blink. Stay the course. How can you preach change girl. How.

Sarah Palin: Miss Teen USA?

Reading this morning's news droppings about the Palin interview with Hardballer Charlie Gibson, reminded me of a recent, equally intense Q&A. Miss Teen America.

For example:

"Pressed about what insights into recent Russian actions she gained by living in Alaska, Palin told Gibson, "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

She went on to say: "I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because…. some.. people out there… in our nation….. don’t have maps and I believe that our education, like such as in South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should.. uh….our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S….. er, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future for our children".

Actually, this last statement was the Miss Teen candidate's answer to a panel question (click above). But it sounds hollow, confused and familiar.

Jesus H Christ. It doesn't get anymore insightful than that.

Up with Palin's October Surprise

According to today's conservative-leaning, Ramussen survey they managed to find a way to suggest that Palin is more popular than McCain or Obama. Rasmussen surveys are about as legitimate as the Bush administration investigating itself. A closer look at Rasmussen and company. And here, you can see the beginning of what's left of the Bush administration trying to shakeup an ongoing investigation so that it might, I don't know, investigate itself? We'll see. Could just be Palin's October Surprise in the works.

Sarah Barracuda

Palin the victim of a liberal media. The polls say it's so, of course Rasmussen is a known conservative. (That doesn't come out very clearly in this out-of-nowhere tally.) Here he is helping the GOP create the illusion that Palin is being unfairly looked at by the media. If we just stop asking these unfair questions about her background and qualifications everyone can move forward and get on with, as Peggy Noonhan put it "the narrative."

**** NOTE: Watch for the finger. It's the physical prelude to her ripostes and assorted zingers.

On a completely unrelated note. What the %$@#$!$% is up with all these dancing figures on banner ads. Aliens, blue people. Silhouette suit guy. Jennifer Anniston look alikes. What what what the hell does it mean! If I see one more dancing figure beside an banner ad for mortgage rates or online degrees I think I will blow a fuse.

I need to update my Gallery of Keiths.
